I have two graduate degrees in music: a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from West Virginia University and a Master of Music in Musical Theatre from Arizona State University. After college, I studied with American operatic coloratura mezzo-soprano, Gail Dubinbaum, for several years before moving to New York. Once in NYC, I studied privately with Aaron Hagan, "Voice Technician Extraordinaire," where I found the answers to many technical problems and have discovered things about the voice that I only dreamed were possible. I've learned so much about vocal technique from Aaron and I apply the technique he developed in my own teaching. I continue to broaden my understanding of vocal function by exploring the myriad of pedagogical ideas, strategies and perspectives from other schools of vocal technique. One of my favorite past times is collecting new and out-of-print vocal technique books. At last count, I have almost a hundred books ranging from present day to as far back as 1872.
